Friday Finds | Herban Cowboy, Heartbreak, & Heavy Levees

Feeling Like a Cowgirl Today.

I want to share this candid post by my friend from Sparkle City, but first, let’s talk about Blossom.

This is like high-end perfume for a fraction of the price. Victory.

Today I am happy to share a great Friday Find, a sweet and subtle perfume. It’s Herban Cowboy’s BLOSSOM. I purchased it at a local store on my lunch break, and I liked it so much that I decided to give it a home in my morning fitness locker AND purse.

I really love the simple sweetness of it!  It’s perfect for everyday wear. From reading the reviews online I see that I am not alone in my affection.

Happy Feet and the Rest Will Follow

Pride month is kicking into high gear, and my hometown homie Mo has really poured on all the feels today over at her blog.  Take a few minutes and check it out, and enjoy this excerpt. I’m proud of you, courageous Mo. All heart.

Now before I continue, let me acknowledge that I know how basic and bougie this sounds. A white girl having a breakdown while her feet are in a jacuzzi tub and her ass is in a massage chair. Believe me, I am not proud. But here we are. And there I was.

Conversations with Lan usually centered on his family, my gnarly pinkie toe and Donald Trump, but this day was different. Between long stretches of silence, he casually dropped in Zen-like words of comfort and encouragement. Just enough to make sure I was still among the living.

Then, by the time the last coat of nail polish dried—along with my tears—he took my hands and gave me this parting gift, “Go home. Relax. Put some music on. Drink some wine. Maybe dance. Happy feet and the rest will follow.

Now if that ‘aint the truth. Sometimes you just need your feet loved on a little bit when your heart is aching. I’m doing just fine today, but maybe I’ll get a pedi anyway.

All last night sat on the levee and moaned
All last night sat on the levee and moaned
Thinkin’ ’bout me baby and my happy home
Going to Chicago…
